Here Are some Ways To Love Yourself & Enjoy Your Own Company

By NCR DELHI TEAM September 21, 2022

While most of us like going out to parties, meeting our friends or even hanging out with our significant other, we forget to take some time out for ourselves. Nowadays, when one takes time out to just relax oneself, it kind of feels weird.

But why is that so? Because we all have probably forgotten to love ourselves and enjoy our own company. We have gotten so dependent on others for our enjoyment that doing stuff alone feels unusual.

Regardless of whether you are surrounded by people or spend a lot of time on your own, you are responsible for enjoying your own company. Enjoying your company will not only make your content but will also bring a lot of peace to your life.

1. Commit To A Hobby

When we were younger, we all loved doing something or the other that gave us immense happiness. Be it dancing, singing or painting – committing to our hobbies was such fun. But thanks to being an adult, we forgot all those hobbies that made us so happy and never really got the time to do them. But who says we can’t start doing it again? Pick a hobby and if not every day, commit at least one or two days to it. Makes sure your mind is free during that time and notice how alive you feel.

2. Maintain A Journal

If you think this doesn’t have anything to do with enjoying your time. You are wrong! Maintaining a journal is the most personal thing one can do. Set out a time every day from your busy schedule. Try doing that especially when you’re done with your day and just blurt out your feelings for the day. Good or bad, those are your feelings that you may have not shared with anyone. Writing it all out makes you be in touch with your feelings and makes you feel lighter.

3. Do Something You’ll Generally Do With A Friend

Whether it is going for a coffee with your friend or watching a movie in a film theatre, these activities are generally done with people. When you see someone enjoying a cup of coffee all by themselves, you think they are some sort of a loner? But why? They are just enjoying their time alone and honestly, are the most content. Try doing something like this and forget about other people’s judgements.

4. Learn How To Cook

Sure, we all know how to do basic things like scrambled eggs or omelettes. But we are not talking about multi-step, recipe-required meals. Something that real chefs make. Trust us, while cooking may seem like a tedious and boring activity, it is quite relaxing. You can set up a nice playlist of yours, light some scented candles and cook a great meal for yourself by checking out the recipe from a cookbook. The meal you’d eat after it is done will pretty much be the best one you’ve had.

5. Excercise Everyday

Whether it is a proper cardio workout, some gymming or even yoga, exercising is a very personal activity. If you are someone who doesn’t like physical activity, it will be a great motivation for you. Keep a note on your phone where you mark down each day that you’ve managed to follow through. Seeing a tangible list in front of you of your progress will seriously help you to hold yourself accountable.

6. Set A Routine

It does not have to be some major unachievable task. You can have a simple waking up routine like waking up, making up your bed, brushing your teeth and doing some light exercise. Now, this may seem quite basic but if you continue with this schedule every day, you will feel like you have made a small achievement every single day. Not just that, this can start your day on a happy note and who does not want that?

7. Read Everyday

Everyone knows the benefits of reading a book. You don’t have to be bookish or need to read a certain kind of book. You can read pages from literally any kind of book. It can be fiction, non-fiction or even research books. No matter what book you reading, you are gaining knowledge and perfecting your grammar every single day. Not just that, a good book can be your best companion. You can carry it anywhere with you and make sure you never get bored or have the need to check your phone.

Retail is quite a therapy for a lot of people. But most people generally like going out shopping with a companion. However, have you ever tried checking out clothes or shoes from your favourite store all by yourself? Trust us, going around the mall and freely checking out your different stores and different items of your interest will give you immense happiness. This is also because there is no time limit and no pressure from another person to get done with your work on time.
